Designed by Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co., this Art Nouveau pewter bud vase features a tapering form decorated with a foliate motif, three handles, and a green glass liner. Dating to the early 20th century, the model 0957 design from 1905 is shown here in two subtle variations. Both examples are stamped with model number 0957; one bears the Liberty maker's mark, while the other is stamped with the number 7. Research tells us that the stamps on the bottom of the pieces varied across different production runs with the latter model (without the Liberty mark likely to be from one of the earliest runs although they would have both been made around the same period).

Archibald Knox was a prolific Manx designer best known for his pivotal role in shaping the aesthetic of Liberty & Co. during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Working predominantly in pewter, silver, and metalwork, Knox integrated Celtic Revival motifs with the fluid lines of Art Nouveau and the principles of the Arts and Crafts movement. His innovative designs for Liberty’s 'Tudric' pewter line remain highly celebrated, making his work exceptionally desirable to collectors of British decorative arts.
Overall good and consumerate with age but the vase, without the Liberty stamp, has a chip to the green glass liner at the bottom of the vase. Its not visible from the outside and does not affect the use of the glass vase in practical terms but please note before purchase. Reflected in the price.
