This set of studio pottery by acclaimed British potter David Frith features a generously proportioned lemonade jug accompanied by nine matching tumblers. The tallest piece, the jug, stands at 20cm in height. Each piece displays Frith’s signature craftsmanship, with balanced forms and rich, earthy glazes that reflect his deep connection to traditional and contemporary ceramic techniques.
David Frith (b1943), co-founder with his wife of Brookhouse Pottery in Denbigh, Wales, is renowned for his skill in wheel-thrown stoneware and porcelain, often drawing on Oriental influences. His work is celebrated for its functionality, durability, and timeless beauty, making it highly sought after by collectors of British studio ceramics.
David Frith’s work is rooted in the Leach and British Studio Pottery tradition, where Eastern and Western aesthetics converged to inspire a new era of high-fired ceramics. He creates large bottles, jars, and platters featuring a base celadon glaze, enhanced with his signature techniques: hakeme brushwork, rope impressions, and waxed motifs. These are layered under heavy reduction overglazes and often combined with ashed surfaces, resulting in richly textured, expressive pieces.
His work is represented in both private and public collections, and he has exhibited internationally as well as taught pottery and kiln-building around the world. David is also a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association.
