A monochrome 'planet' vase by Isabella Pope.
Isabella Pope was a potter working at the end of the 20th century. She was not a 'commercial' artist whilst alive and she actually used to teach pottery in her studio to afford her to buy new clay.
She was very inspired by Chinese and Korean sculptors and has been compared to modernist artists such as Hans Coper and Lucie Rie. Her highly skilled work is very unusual in the market and does not come up for sale often.
This piece is signed and dated on the base '4/91' (April 1991)
Also some photos from her studio in the 90s featuring this vase in one image.
