A Vase and matching plate (low bowl) in Nils Thorsson's Baca series referred to as the 'sunflower' series in shades of brown and navy. Both pieces are extremely tactile and have a matt glaze to the majority of them contrasted with a shiny glaze on the rims.
Nils Thorsson was born in 1898 and trained in Copenhagen until he joined Royal Copenhagen as an apprentice. He became one of their most reknowned artists and was very much influenced by the Danish approach to functionalism and minimalism. He became especially well known for some of his painted designs on earthenware products.
These particular pieces are from the 70s.
Plate/Low Bowl reference 870/3726
Vase reference 870/3121
See photos of markings to the base.
Ideally I would like to sell these as a pair (as they look so good together!) but please make me an offer if you would like to buy them on their own.
Dimensions in cm (approx):
Vase Height 19, width 14.5, Depth 8
Plate Diameter 25.5, height 3.5
Both pieces are in very good condition.
